losing it

Over the last couple of years, my mealtime portions shrunk significantly, seconds stopped and most of my lovely, wonderful carbohydrates have been cut back dramatically to a shadow of their former, joyous selves. But relentlessly, month-by-month, my aging metabolism has reduced my inspiration to burn the necessary calories that would keep my waistline contained in my pants utilizing only the size I want to wear. Couple that with a digital scale that is pretty-darn merciless in explaining loud and clear what the mirror has been trying to tell me. It was the scale that finally, well, tipped the scale. The dang thing tried to warn me off, but I wouldn’t listen. Finally it screamed, 199.5. Oh no! THAT WILL […]

power failure

It was fully dark outside when I woke up. Hmmm, my digital clock is off. The cord and connections are not easily accessed. I’ll figure out what’s wrong with my clock in the light of day. All I know for sure is we are somewhere between evening and morning. I wonder where? Flushing the toilet, there is no tank refill. No water flowing into the tank and, therefore, no power to the mutual water system. The lack of juice is much more widespread than just my clock, and has gone on long enough for the neighbors to use up the pressure tank contents. Happily, we have good people in Ravalli Electric Co-op who undoubtedly are working on restoring power. Back […]

pervasive flu, cough

It is going around… the world. “Everybody” is getting it. A really bad one. Nasty. Oh, but don’t give a second thought to the plumes spewing out of the spray planes criss-crossing our skies. Big Sky Country almost implies BLUE, and clean. But we get their white streaks expanding into pervasive pasty-white more often than we get blue. What are they spraying? And why? Global Skywatch .com does a much better job than I can. If you are interested, go there. If they were spraying, people would document it and laboratory tests would prove it. People are documenting it. Lab tests are proving it. Nature is proving it. Our health is proving it. Ignoring it, or paying attention … […]

bread and circuses

5 Major Stories Americans Missed While Consumed by the Super Bowl   (Before It’s News) by Matt Agorist “Films, football, beer, and above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult….” ? George Orwell, 1984 As Americans train their attention to Super Bowl 51, massive life changing events are unfolding around them — and most people are entirely oblivious — mostly by design. All week long, the rivalry between the Patriots and the Falcons has been plastered across televisions — and, in effect, across the minds of Americans. Super bowl, super bowl, super bowl — concern yourself with nothing else. As Jim Quinn points out, when six mega-corporations who depend upon […]

un cramped

I have had muscle cramps a lot lately. The standard natural health answer is to add magnesium, perhaps some calcium too. “Bananas” is a popular prescription. But I have been taking magnesium and calcium supplements with my late breakfast and a multi-vitamin and mineral supplement with my dinner. Why isn’t this working? But fail it does. Friday I was fed up with that failure and took a moment to look at the fine print. Aww Shucks! Operating under the assumption that they always tend to overdose on their percentages was not particularly wise. My Kirkland Mature Multi that I choose because they are uniquely modest in their problematic-for-me vitamin B loading, only provides 13% of my recommended magnesium. My Dr. […]

Trump to clean up Mexico

Trump is talking tough to the president of Mexico. “You have some bad hombres down there. You are not doing enough to clean them out. If your military cannot do it, I am thinking about sending ours. Your military might be afraid to take them on, but ours isn’t.” Who does this buffoon think he is? What game show does he think he is playing on? Of course ending “the war on drugs” would remove the prohibition profit, ending the drug cartel riches that far exceed the entire Mexican economy. That, obviously, does not address their hidden agenda, only the stated one; their cover story. Trump is also threatening Iran after they tested a missile. You are threatening the […]

redirecting the pro-life effort

I have been an active Libertarian for most of the last 16 years. I have likely been to four score or more meetings of libertarians. Often the discussion moves rapidly over areas of agreement to focus on animated discussions where we do not agree. The pro-life vs pro-choice question is one of the main ones. Nobody wins that argument. Remember, this is a group that eschews existing rules and rulers in favor of philosophically proper and theoretically pure. No pre-existing guidelines carry weight in these arguments. For us there is no agreed upon role for government in this question. That means neither paying for abortions nor monitoring and controlling womens’ reproductive systems. Those who would use government force to ban […]
