Our culture is mostly disconnected with natural rhythms. In days before humans channeled electrons through copper conductors, people were acutely aware of sun, moon and celestial cycles. Today we are oblivious.
While your calendar may declare that today “autumn begins”, it is as if your rulers pronounced it so … just like “daylight savings time” where they change your clocks and circadian rhythm just to show you who is in charge.
Truth is that today something very real happened. In its path around the sun, the Earth is now at such an angle that the day and night are as close to equal as they will be until the Spring Equinox.
In a time where people were more aware and politicians less pompous, it was widely known as the Fall Equinox, or just as correctly, the autumnal equinox.
Enjoy these days of nice balance between light and dark.
Happy Equinox
