In yet another article about the staggering USA national debt the totals don’t sink in, but breaking it down to per-capita helps:
…this year we will borrow 32 cents out of every dollar we spend. Overall, our national debt now tops $15.2 trillion (with Congress raising the debt ceiling to $16.4 trillion last week). And that doesn’t count the unfunded liabilities of Social Security and Medicare. Throw those in, and our total indebtedness exceeds $120 trillion.
That means that if one counts only the official national debt, every man, woman and child in America owes $48,700. Include the unfunded liabilities of Social Security and Medicare, and every one of us is in debt to the tune of $189,000…
Note the words “we” and “our”. Sorry but you all are on your own here. I did not incur that debt, I didn’t borrow the money, I didn’t steal the money, I did not make any promises and nobody who represented me did. If you want to own that debt, you can, but I won’t.
Since those who did steal, spend and promise that money have control of the federal government of the USA and the federal reserve note of the USA and the television broadcasts that blanket the USA, I will minimize my participation in all of them.
It isn’t realistic to get out of all of that altogether all at once, but I do what I can, work for peaceful transition and plan for the rest.
